The Blessed Days of Dhul Hijjah
The
First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah
"The best days in the world are the Ten days." [Ibn Hibbaan,
al-Bazzaar, authenticated in Saheeh Jaami` us-Sagheer #1133].
"There are no days during which good deeds are more beloved by
Allaah than these (ten) days." [al-Bukhaaree, at-Tirmidhee and
others] The Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, was then
asked: "Not even Jihaad in Allaah’s way?" He replied: "Not even
Jihaad in Allaah’s way; except for a person who went out (for
Jihaad) with his self and wealth and came back with none (i.e.
lost all for Allaah)." [at-Tirmidhee, authenticated in
al-Albaanee’s Irwaa’ ul-Ghaleel, #953]. All
good deeds can be done during these days and the early
generations of Muslims used to exert themselves excessively in
worshipping Allaah. In particular, fasting and dhikr (mentioning
and remembering Allaah) are to be done in plenty on these days.

The holy month of Ramadan enjoys a special importance in the Islamic calendar. As the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said: "It is Allah's Own month." It is the chief of all months and the most glorious one. As we already know, 'Fasting' is one of the important pillars of Islam and it is the very month of Ramadan during which fasting has been made obligatory for all adults and sane Muslims. By fasting during Ramadan, a Muslim besides discharging an obligation imposed upon him by Allah, becomes entitled to great reward in the Hereafter. On the other hand, any lapse in the matter amounts to a great sin. Fasting is an article of worship, the knowledge about the performance or otherwise whereof rests only with Allah and the person concerned. Hence, it is Allah alone who will reward that person for it, on the Day of Judgment. The Quran (2:185) states that it was in the month of Ramadan that the Quran was revealed. In fact, Ramadan commemorates that part, of the Muslim year, when "the Qur'an was sent down as a guidance for the people" and also for the " judgment between the right and wrong". Another verse of the Quran (97:1) states that it was revealed "on the night of determination," which Muslims generally observe on the night of 26-27 Ramadan.

Way to Light, Let's Think Deeper "WTLLTD" is an interactive web-site based on the teaching of "Islam". Many People misinterpreted "Islam" as being the root cause of terrorism and corruption that we face in today's world. Islam generally means peace , but it is the peace more on ones inner self after it has submitted oneself to the will of God Almighty and that is what the noble religion is all about. Islam has taught oneself to live harmoniously with its neighbors whose religion is other than Islam. It taught oneself to treat them with dignity and due respect irregardless of their faith, creed and race. The same way that Islam regards the relationship as mutual, that it is also treated as such in return. God is clear on this issue in dealing with other faiths when He said "There's no compulsion in religion, the truth is distinct from error". Islam - The Misinterpreted Religion
.......................................................................................................................................................................... How do our efforts today compare with those of the Prophet and his companions? One year of our life has passed. How many good deeds have we prepared for the day of judgment? What did we, as individuals and communities, do for Islam? Were we distracted by our money and our children from the obedience of Allah and Jihad for His sake? Allah said: "O you who believe! Let not your money or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. If any act as such, then surely they are the losers." (Qur'an, 63:9) The Prohpet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, said: "No servant will be let go on the day of judgment until he is asked about the four matters: His lifetime: How did he spend it? His knowledge: What did he use it for? His money: Where did he gain it from and what did he spend in it? And his body: In what did he wear it away?" (at-Tirmidhee) Have we used our bodies for fasting, praying, enjoining good and forbidding evil or have we used them up by succumbing to our desires? Muslims today need to build their Ummah and revive it. And this does not come through futile discussions but rather through work, sincere, careful and planned. We need to strengthen the body of this Ummah and protect it from the dangers surrounding it.
